Our Work
Practical support for people facing cancer.
Cancer treatment is hard enough. The Lucky Bwalya Ngandu Foundation works to reduce the financial and practical barriers that stand between patients and the care they need.
What We Do
We help families stay close to care.
Accessing cancer treatment can involve challenges beyond medical care, including transportation, time away from work, caregiving responsibilities, and unexpected expenses. For some patients and families, these challenges can make it more difficult to begin or continue treatment. LBNF works to help reduce these barriers for the cancer patients and families we serve in Zambia.
The Lucky Bwalya Ngandu Foundation focuses on the practical needs that most directly affect whether a patient can access and continue treatment. Our support is direct, personal, and grounded in the realities families face.
Transportation Support
We help cover transportation costs for cancer patients traveling to and from treatment centers. For many families, the cost of getting to a hospital or clinic is a significant barrier. We work to remove it.
Financial Assistance
Cancer treatment places financial strain on entire families. We provide direct financial assistance to help patients and families manage essential costs during treatment, including medications, medical supplies, and basic living needs.
Community Support
Navigating cancer is isolating. We connect patients and families with community support, practical guidance, and a network of people who understand what they are going through.
Access to Care Resources
We help patients and families understand and access available care resources, including treatment options, support services, and community organizations working in cancer care in Zambia.
Who We Help
Cancer patients and families in Zambia.
Our support is focused on individuals and families in Zambia who are navigating cancer care. We prioritize those facing the greatest financial and practical barriers to treatment — patients who need transportation assistance, families managing the costs of ongoing care, and individuals who lack access to community support during a difficult time.
We are a growing organization. As our capacity expands, so will our reach. Our commitment is to serve with care, consistency, and accountability — and to grow in a way that allows us to do this work well.
How Support Reaches Families
Direct, accountable, and grounded in community.
Identifying need
We work with community partners and healthcare contacts in Zambia to identify patients and families who need support. Our board members based in Zambia play a central role in this process.
Assessing the situation
We take time to understand each family's specific circumstances — what they need, what barriers they are facing, and how support can be most useful. We approach every situation with care and respect.
Providing support
Support is provided directly to patients and families. We prioritize transparency and accountability in how resources are used, and we maintain clear records of the assistance we provide.
Staying connected
We maintain ongoing connection with the families we support. Cancer treatment is a long journey, and we aim to be a consistent presence — not a one-time intervention.
Your support makes this work possible.
